About the role

You will own the design of Debo's merchant app, the tool 6,000 shop owners open every morning, and shape how small businesses in Ethiopia get paid and borrow. You will work with Kebede, our product lead, two designers and eight engineers.

What you will own in your first 90 days
  • Redesign merchant onboarding so a shop can start accepting payments in one visit
  • Run research with merchants on Friday visits and share what you learn every week
  • Set up the first version of our design system with the engineering team
What you bring
  • Five or more years designing digital products
  • A portfolio with shipped work and the thinking behind it
  • Comfort designing in Amharic and English
Nice to have
  • Experience in payments or fintech
  • Research with low-literacy or first-time users
  • Basic front-end skills
